See you at the District!

What's that noise? Could it be the sound of your $Lindens shaking because they know they'll be leaving you soon when you get over to the new Truth District? Why, I believe it is!

Belle Belle makes me steamy!

Do you love living in luxury? Who doesn't, am I right? Well, then you must be loving this month's Spruce Up Your Space as much as I am! This weekend only, you can get this simply wonderful Sauna Zen-sation from Belle Belle for ONLY $150L! Check out the pics!

Style - Belle Belle Sauna Zen-sation

Style - Belle Belle Sauna, water break!

Style - Belle Belle Sauna, steamy!

Style - Belle Belle Sauna, Shower time

You know, every time I show something off from Belle Belle, I want to just take a million pictures because Leyla Firefly seriously puts some detail in her work! This thing is really just wonderful and SO serene, with the light tinkling sounds of the wind chimes that are hanging outside. You will need at least 326 prims available to rez it out, but wow, is it worth it! There are several sits in the benches, the steam can be turned on and off, and I seriously want the shower in my real bathroom, because the water pouring down looks like soft rain. This version is PG, but there IS a naughty version of the sauna with Belle Belle's "Passion Inside" menu driven poses. You know, if you roll that way. *wink* The adult version is NOT on sale for Spruce Up Your Space.

Remember, you only have until Sunday night to get the Sauna Zen-sation at Belle Belle for $150L. Afterwards it pops up to its regular price of $990L. Go now! Go!

Oh, by the way. I have my Sauna-zensation set up in my Calypso's Cave which is also from Belle Belle. The sounds of the cave really mesh well with the sauna. Honestly, I'm totally relaxed!

It's A Click Christmas!!

Yeah...I dropped the ball on the 30 days thing. Whoopsie! :)

My friend Flix Saiman of Click Photography Props & Poses has gotten me into the Christmas spirit with the latest of his amazing collection - Xmas Living!

Style - Click - Christmas, Pretty!

Please excuse the glow on the photos. I'm still having that issue and it in no way is the fault of the set!!

The set is...well, amazing! There's not much more I can say about it! All the furniture and pieces are so well done and the poses are awesome. There are poses for singles, couples, and even some for kids. I don't have kids, but I dragged my boyfriend in to pose with me. [Yeah, like he suffered. ♥]

Style - Click - Christmas, Star

Style - Click - Christmas, Jump kiss!

Head over to Click and check it out. It really is something that any decent photographer [or someone who wants to be!] needs for this holiday season. :)

Halloween Hunt For Autism Starts Monday!

The Halloween Hunt For Autism begins on Monday, and I really hope all of you take part! You can find fab Halloween items, such as this Creepy Fireplace Facade from Funky Junk!

Review - Funky Junk - Halloween Hunt For Autism Gift

This hunt does require a $50L donation to get started, with the money collected going to Autism Speaks. Head to the starting point and pay your $50L. You'll receive trick or treat bag to wear and the landmark for your next location. Be sure to wear your bag to get your treats! I believe there are 50 stores participating, but don't quote me on that.

Normally I don't endorse many hunts, but this one means a great deal to me. Two of my best friends have autistic children, and even though I have seen their daily struggles, I cannot imagine what it is they truly go through. Pay your $50L, get some good stuff, and help out a great cause. It's win win. :)

Project Donate

I'm sure you've heard, but if you haven't, Project Donate is starting up, with the first event benefiting the UNICEF Pakistan Flood Crisis and will run from September 4-19, 2010. This is a very worthy cause. I pulled this off of the Project Donate blog:

Facts about the 2010 Pakistan floods

(Data source: Reuters, dated 20 Aug. 2010)

* There have been more than 1,600 deaths.

* 4,000,000 people have been rendered homeless.

* 8,000,000 people have been identified as needing urgent assistance and medical care.

* Up to 20,000,000 people have been affected by the floods.

* Up to 3,500,000 children are in danger of contracting water and insect borne diseases.

* The floods have ruined over 1,600,000 acres of crops and 200,000 livestock animals have died.

WHAT YOUR MONEY CAN BUY

$6 [Approx. $1500L] can provide three 10-liter collapsible water containers for transporting and storing water.

$60 [Approx. $16,000L] can provide 20 sheets of tarpaulin, providing simple shelter or ground sheeting for several families.

$200 [Approx. $54,000L] can provide one recreation kit for 90 children to enjoy physical activity and play in times of emergency or displacement-containing items such as Frisbees, jump ropes, footballs, volleyballs, handballs, whistles, a chalkboard and chalk, etc.

Statement by UNICEF Executive Director, Anthony Lake, on the flooding in Pakistan

“Mothers are fleeing flooded homes with nothing but their babies clinging to their backs; people waving for help from the top of stranded buses as the waters rise around them; desperately thirsty children drinking from contaminated water sources. The humanitarian tragedy in Pakistan has reached tragic proportions. But serious shortfalls in funding are limiting our ability to save lives as the crisis worsens”.

Now let’s talk hope

September 4-19, Project Donate which consists of some of your favorite designers, bloggers and SL residents are coming together to do something…to raise hope. Many have created items -several of them in under one week - and are donating a percentage, if not the entire profit, to the UNICEF Pakistan Flood Crisis Fund. You can start to view some of the items that will be out for sale on the Project Donate Flickr Group.

If you have any further questions regarding Project Donate, please drop a note card on Unicef Rainfall which is the account created by Truth Hawks, the founder of Project Donate, to answer any questions.

Please contact Keira Seerose for Vendor or Blogger applications.

Vroom vroom!

I'll admit it. I'm a sucker for anything I can ride on in SL. Don't get dirty! Cars, horses, pogo balls, bicycles...if I can ride it, I'm happy! I saw last night that Blackberry Jam was having a 50% off sale, and that it included their Kiddy Wheels cars, so I ran right out today and grabbed it!!

Aww, Piper thinks my driving skills need work.

Review - Blackberry Jam - Kiddy Wheels, female

The Kiddy Wheels is a car that you wear, so if it's just you in the car, then you can vroom vroom anywhere you'd like to go! I always like that because sometimes I want to drive around in a place where I can't rez something.

Now you CAN, however, buy a separate "saddle" for your car if you want 3 of your friends to ride with you. The saddle you DO have to rez to the ground. Then you sit on the invisible box [ctrl-alt-t to turn on your "Reds" so you can see it!] and your passengers can sit on the poseballs. Then...vroom vroom!

But don't worry, this isn't just for girls. In the pack there is a boy car too!

Review - Blackberry Jam - Kiddy Wheels, male

Along with both the male & female cars in the pack, there are different sizes for adult and child sized avatars. Currently during the sale, they're available for $199L, and you can purchase the saddle for $50L.

Vroom vroom yourself over to Blackberry Jam and get rollin'!

Bacchitecture!

So by now you've probably heard of the House & Garden Hunt that's going on. But you might be asking yourself "Hey! Where am I going to put all my new furniture?" I have a suggestion!

Bacchitecture is one of the newest prefab shops to hit the grid, and oh! The houses are just lovely! Owner Bacchus Ireto was kind enough to drop some houses on me [um, not Wicked Witch style!] and I had so much fun rezzing houses to play in! Bacchus is the former curator of the Frank Lloyd Wright Virtual Museum, and draws his inspiration from American vernacular architecture, as well as the buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, Mies van der Rohe, and Robert A. M. Stern.

Let's take a look at two of my favorites, the Llewellyn and the Lutsen!

Review - Bacchitecture - Llewellyn

Review - Bacchitecture - Lutsen

I am a huge fan of very tasteful, classic homes. I don't usually get into the whole modern thing, and so these two prefabs worked really well for me! They are built beautifully, and the insides are just as pretty, without being overwhelming at all. That is really awesome because then you can decorate to your own taste without feeling like the house is forcing you into something. Yes, houses force!

There are several houses to choose from at Bacchitecture, so head on over and rez some out to look in. I bet you'll find one that you just can't live without!

Relaxing in Calypso's Cave

Doesn't this look like a beautiful sim?

Review - Belle Belle - Calypso's Cave, waterfall

Don't you just want to go there and relax? Well, guess what? It's not a sim. It's a new gorgeous sky area from Belle Belle!

The new Calypso's Cave is truly a marvel. At around 260 prims, it's the perfect little secret getaway. And of course it is equipped with the Belle Belle Passion Inside animation system, so there are lots of cuddles, kisses, and....well, you know. ;) But more than that, it's just PRETTY!

Review - Belle Belle - Calypso's Cave

The stunning waterfall, the gorgeous "sunlight" streaming through a hole in the cave, little fish swimming serenely in the water, and pretty little fireflies lighting up the cave - well, gosh, what is NOT to like?

Calypso's Cave also comes with the "Bliss Box" feature. You rez out a cute little cloud, set your desired height, and whoosh! You're off and then it all rezzes out for you. It's so very simple!! If you choose not to leave the cave up, you just call for your cloud again, and you're safely delivered back to the ground, and everything de-rezzes. There is also an optional grotto entrance, in case you feel like just leaving it up, and the entrance acts as a teleporter to get you back where you want to go. It's wonderful!

I've always enjoyed Leyla's work, but I have to say - Calypso's Cave may be the build that has impressed me the most. Get to Belle Belle and pick yours up! You won't be sorry!

Spruce Up Your Beach With Belle Belle!

Calling all lifeguards! This month's Spruce Up Your Space theme is "Beachy Keen," and this weekend you can pick up this Naughty Lifeguard Tower from Belle Belle for just $150L!!

Review - Belle Belle, SUYS weekend - Lifeguard Tower

The tower sits up to 10 avatars, and there are special couples animations, too! *wink wink nudge nudge* Hey, they don't call it Naughty for nothing!

The Naughty Lifeguard Tower is copy/no modify, and comes in at 178 prims. It's a must for your summer beach! Go this weekend and get it at Belle Belle!

I'm way too comfortable in this chair!

You may know the store Baustein by Mainit Hellman for its wonderful prefabs. But did you also know that Mainit makes furniture? Really awesome furniture that you just wish you could yank out of SL and drag into your own living room!

The latest set, the De'Loire, is just fantastic!

Review - Baustein - De'Loire set

Review - Baustein - De'Loire chair

This set is just delish. It comes with the fireplace, painting, table, ottoman with texture change blanket, and 2 chairs, one with the filigree detailing and one without. The chairs and ottoman are also color change! [Monopoly board & chips plate are not included, just used for this shot.] Look at the chairs! If I had these chairs in my physical world, I don't think I'd ever get up. They look so so comfortable! And of course, the baked textures are just yummy.

The De'Loire set is prim budget friendly at just 67 prims for the entire set. It is also copy/modify, which is awesome. The set is $1200L, but you can buy the pieces separately, although of course you get a bit of a discount with buying the entire set.

Oh, and you can pick up the skybox that I took these photos in at Baustein as well. It's called Chill and I adore it!

Lots of stuff to see at Baustein, and there's a big grand sim opening party on Sunday at 12pm SLT at the Rigby sim for Baustein, SySy's, Staged, and Perse, so you have no excuses not to go check it out!

Here fishie, fishie, fishie...

I love the Pocket Gardens by Stormy Aluveaux and Carter Denja. Anytime I need an instant garden [because I'm horrible at landscaping!], I pull mine out and boom! Insta-pretty! I was super happy to see the new Castalia Basin with Koi, because who doesn't need some cute fish in their life??

Review - Pocket Gardens - Castalia Basin with Koi, small

Review - Pocket Gardens - Castalia Basin with Koi, large

Review - Pocket Gardens - Castalia Basin with Koi, both

The basins go really well with the Castalia prefab gardens. Both basins come with color change scripts for the basin itself, and for the roses attached. The fish are so cute and swim in circles. There are even sits on each basin [as shown in the top picture] and one of the best parts? Low prim! The small basin is 7 prims and the large is 10 prims. These are GREAT if you're in one of the new Linden homes!

These are very affordable, too! The small basin is $125L and the large is $175L. Or get a little discount and get both for $250L! They are copyable, so you can put fish out everywhere!

Go pick up your new koi at Pocket Gardens today!

It means Love

I was always surrounded by musicians and artists growing up, but as I got older, I started hanging with a more science nerd type crowd. And I think geeks are hot, but I always missed the artists.

Luckily, in Second Life, I'm back surrounded by a bunch of artists, including my friend, Swirly Disco Flames artist Marnix Malifozik. Marnix creates these ... well, swirly, funky pieces of art that are pretty darn cool! He has a new collection released just in time for Valentine's Day called Aroha.

Aroha is a Maori word meaning love. But the English word love does not demonstrate the true depth of aroha. Other ways to translate aroha might include compassion, affection, respect, sympathy and mercy. It encompasses so much more than merely love.

Well, I don't know much about Maori, but I do know that this collection is very pretty!

Review - Swirly Disco Flames - Aroha

I'm showing you No.77 and No.102, but there are 20 altogether. Each piece of art is modify/no copy, and just perfect for gift giving to someone special. All paintings are $100L.

Stop by Swirly Disco Flames to check out these, and the other art pieces by Marnix!

It goes along with all of the new Belle Belle Valentine furniture and you guys MUST check it out! If you love feminine, beautiful furniture, it's just your style too!

Not only is the bed gorgeous, but it comes with LOTS of fun animations! I dusted Aidan off and forced him to pose with me. [Gosh, where WERE all those boys who told me they were available for pics? Are they scared of my pretty pink bed??]

You can have breakfast in bed:

Hey, who broke my window?

It's kind of a running joke that I have a skybox addiction. Well, skyboxes, houses, any kind of prefab, really. Luckily for me, I know some pretty good builders and once in a while they'll drop prefabs that they've built on me, just to get my opinion. [Um, drop them in my inventory, I should say. Not drop them ON me. I'm not the Wicked Witch of the East or anything. I don't even live in the east.]

Today my friend Magen Jigsaw of EmJay surprised me with a new skybox! Magen usually does clothing, but she's branching out into prefabs, and with this first build, I can say that I'm happy she is! Check out some pictures of her new Shabby Chic skybox.

Review - EmJay - Skybox, outside

Review - EmJay - Skybox, inside

Review - EmJay - Skybox, window

I'm not usually a huge fan of the distressed texture look, but I'm really loving this. It's wide, open, and there are lots of ways you can decorate up this box! My favorite thing, and this is something that I LOVE when prefab creators do, is that you could use this skybox down on the ground as well. It makes it more than just a skybox, it makes it a home.

The Shabby Chic is 75 prim and $300L. If you're a prefab addict like me, you need to head over to EmJay and pick this up!

FilterCam 2.0 is ready!!

Do you ever look at the blogs and feeds and think, "Wow, how can I get my photos to look better in Second Life?" Me too! For a long time, I thought everyone was just a Photoshop genius. And while there are some exceptional Photoshoppers out there, not everyone is. Some of them were using a nifty little HUD called FilterCam from MechanizedLife!

A few months ago, the fabulous brain behind MechanizedLife, CodeBastard Redgrave [or Codie, as she's known to her friends], passed out FilterCams at one of the blogger meet-ups as a gift. Awesome gift, because you know...we're bloggers, we take umpteen pics of ourselves! But I admit - I didn't use it for ages. I'm not particularly gadgety, and a quick glance at the instructions made me believe it was much too hard.

I was SO wrong.

FilterCam is incredibly easy to use! Wear it, click it fast to pull it up, click and hold for a second on it to pull up the menu, choose your filter, take a snapshot [make sure you have it marked to show HUDs!], and boom! Cute cute picture! My banner for this blog was taken using it!

I was working with an older version, but Codie has come up with a very awesome updated version, FilterCam 2.0!! Now with little submenus so you can find your favorite presets even easier! And 86 presets to choose from. 86!! All kinds of tints, patterns, and frames to make your pictures AWESOME.

This is just one of 86 that you can choose from! And not only can you choose presets, but you can customize them to your liking. Codie, bless her, sat the other night and showed me how to do it. I'm not sure if I truly understood, but I think I did. And you can also use a tutorial by Ryker Beck to learn how to make your very own FilterCam presets! So so cool!

If you have an old version of FilterCam, just wear it and the new one should be delivered to you shortly. If you don't already have it, you can pick it up at the MechanizedLife shop on the Rouge sim or onXStreet for $1000L. Believe me, it is WORTH this price. You will adore it!

Musashi-Do & SySy's Designs Sponsor The World Holidays 2009 Exhibition and Contest

I don't usually post a lot about contests in here, but this one, I simply have to tell you guys about!

Currently happening on the 4th floor of the Musashi-Do mainstore is the Milano Holidays 2009 Photograph Exhibit. You can see awesome photos taken of Milan, Italy, by designer Shiryu Musashi. You also can get a free photo every day, or purchase a charity frame for $250L, with the proceeds from that going to Toys For Tots. I've seen the photos, and since Italy is a dream destination of mine, I absolutely love the exhibit!

But the World Holidays 2009 exhibition will open on December 20th, and this is where you guys come in! You need to send photos of YOUR local area and how it gets dressed up for the holidays! You can find all the rules and legal stuff on this page of the Musashi-Do blog, but let me tell you about the prizes!!

1st: 1 copy of every outfit Musashi-Do releases from December the 20th 2009 onwards, for life!
2nd: 1 copy of every outfit SySy's releases from December the 20th 2009 onwards, for life!
3rd to 10th: a 1000 L$ Musashi-Do Gift Card + a 1000 L$ Sysy Gift Card!

Pretty nice! Who wouldn't want free new releases for life from both of these wonderful designers??

Now if you'll excuse me...I need to go take some pics!

Winter in my pocket!

Do you remember a few months ago, I blogged about the Pocket Gardens by Stormy Aluveaux and Carter Denja? Well, just in time for winter, they've come out with new wintery Persephone Pocket Gardens!!

These are just so cute! The pictures truly don't do them justice. The gardens are all linked together, so even for the worst landscaper on the grid [*cough* like me.], it's super easy to put together a fabulous area. The base is texture change to fit a variety of snow textures that you find in SL, but I didn't see an invisible texture like in the Thalia garden. You are also able to change the texture of the tree! If you get one with a lamp, the lamp changes colors and lights too, which is pretty much an awesome effect! I didn't change it for this photo just so you can see what it looks like as-is. You are also able to sit on the rocks or log, and turn the little bird's song on or off.

The gardens range in sizes from 4x4 to 4x6 and are very prim budget friendly from 16 to 21 prims. They are copy, but not modifiable. If you do much landscaping in SL, you know that it's often expensive, so these are fairly budget friendly as well, ranging in price from $175L to $275L. If you fatpack the Persephone garden in December, it's 50% off, making it just $350L. That is a STEAL, you guys!

Go check out the demo of the Pocket Garden. I love mine, and I know you guys will love them too!
