Got To Kiss Myself, I'm So Pretty

Do you ever just have REAL trouble taking a picture of yourself? I was asked to send a headshot in for something I'll be blogging in the future and it filled me with dread. I am the WORST at taking headshots of myself! I can do a regular blog picture all day, every day [well, if I'm not lazy], but headshots confuse me. I stomped around yelling about how I looked stupid. Luckily, Truth has a terrific new hair for Uber that has a nice starry barrette, so it helped a whole lot to make me pretty!




Esther is new for Uber and I adore it! The hair is actually pretty long, past the chest, but I couldn't fit it all in to this particular picture. I just love the hair clip because I'm a sucker for anything with stars and any kind of hair accessory. The Uber theme this month is "Celestial," so of course it goes perfectly with the theme!

I know, I already did a post today, but Berry did a Yearbook Smile Challenge today that I couldn't resist! Of course, if I'd ever looked this pretty in any of my RL yearbook pics, I think I would have dropped dead. So that's the first rule of taking a good yearbook picture, I guess. Just be good looking already. *laughs*




I get asked a lot why I smile in so many of my photos. The simple answer is that I'm happy and that tends to come out in my pictures. But truthfully, it's more that I cannot stand photos where people are just staring dead-eyed even though it's supposed to be a photo that conveys some kind of emotion. There are, of course, photos where a just neutral face is appropriate and that's fine. But if you're taking a picture where you're supposed to be jumping for joy and yet you look like you're just waiting for your car's oil change to finish up, well... that doesn't make for a very good picture in my opinion.

I don't really like any of the mesh mouths out there. I find that mostly they make people look like there's a good chance that person cannot put on their own shoes. And as I like my face, I haven't bothered with mesh heads. The regular avatar face is NOT the easiest to work with and the emotes we can do with our faces aren't always great, but you can make it work. I have a different shape for smiling. The eyes are bigger and wider, the cheeks are slightly more puffy, and I messed with my mouth while smiling until it became something I could work with. I do use a little bit of Photoshop, too, because my teeth tend to poke out a little bit in the corners when I smile. I will say that the Pink Fuel skin I'm wearing smiles really well. I've had other skins where no matter what I did, the smile never looked right. So if you have that problem, it really just might be your skin and not your shape.

Floating Along

Okay, so, here's the thing. In my RL, I'm ridiculously scared of balloons. Not so much the balloons themselves, as I think they are pretty, but the very fact that they can pop just freaks me out! I have a phobia of sudden, loud noises. I know, I know. It's weird. So the chances of my carrying a big bunch of balloons like this in RL? Slim to none, and if I did have to, I'd be holding them like a bomb. But in SL, I get to enjoy the pretty balloons, so that is awesome!




You know what else is awesome? FaMESHed! Zaara is out at FaMESHed this month with the Kalika tank top and the Elina shorts. I am in LOVE! Especially with the shorts, because I've been looking for new shorts that aren't denim and/or don't show off too much booty crack.

Do you ever go out to the Woodland Treasures gacha event? You totally should, especially if you're a kid av or you like super cute decor items. Pita Pocket is out there with their Little Carny Party set. There are several adorable items in the set, all carnival themed, but I'm just using the Balloon Cart for this picture. I know people are getting gacha burn-out, but this is so precious, you need at least a few items!
