HOME EXPO IS COMING!!!! Sorry for the caps, but this is definitely one of my favorite favorite favorite events of the year!

This is the sixth year for the Home and Garden Expo in Second Life. The event has over 100 of Second Life's best home and garden creators, so there's sure to be SOMETHING you need for your home there! This year the event spans 8 sims for just the home and garden products, 2 sims for the Breedables Fair, and 1 sim for entertainment. There will be a great hunt, silent auctions, and raffles, too! It's going to be so much fun!

Living At The Vintage Fair

I've always loved vintage homes. When I was younger, my older sister used to decorate with all this stuff she'd find at thrift shops and she'd create amazing things with what others would consider "old junk." I've never had the luck she's had in finding the best old things, but luckily in SL, I can have my vintage style without having to sift through peoples' used china.

At the Vintage Fair, Funky Junk has brought us the Salinas house. It is too adorable! Of course, I always say that about Funky Junk houses, but I always mean it! There are two bedrooms and a sunken living room, along with the bathroom, dining room, and generously sized kitchen. You can choose to get it without a garage as well.

Style - Living At The Vintage Fair - Funky Junk Salinas House

I learned how to type on a typewriter. Setting it between pica and elite, hearing the satisfying CLACK CLACK CLACK of the keys, it's definitely a whole different ballgame than typing on a computer. What Next's Nouvelle Study has the cutest little typewriter on it! Oh, and a rotary phone! There are plenty of cute animations in the set, too.

Style - Living At The Vintage Fair - WN Nouvelle Study

And finally for today, you should check out the RemiRetro furniture set from Bella Rose. There's all kinds of cute pieces in it, and the colors remind me of something you might find in the Brady Bunch house! I think my favorite item in the whole set might just be that clock! Or the radio! Or... well, it's all so cute, I just can't pick one favorite!

Go on, now. Go to the Vintage Fair and find some home stuff!

And I Look Like Donna Reed

Mmmm...more Vintage Fair goodies! I've been setting up Funky Junk's new Pasadena house that is out at the Vintage Fair for the past couple of days. It's all kinds of retro love! With Nana's TV Room Set from Hanaya, also at the Vintage Fair, it just makes you step back in time!

Style - And I Look Like Donna Reed

I was very excited to see Reale out at the Vintage Fair this year, especially with this adorable Soda dress! The skirt is a mix of sculpts and flexi, so you get nice movement, and the whole thing is really very figure flattering with the waistband and bow that hit in just the right spots.

If you haven't made it out to the Vintage Fair yet, be prepared for some lag, of course, but also be prepared to spend spend spend!! Oh! And I'll be out there tomorrow [Sunday the 13th] DJing a Sock Hop from 7pm-9pm SLT! I hope to see you guys out there for some great old music and lots of fun!

Part Of Your World

Most of my friends know that I'm totally and completely in love with shopping for home furniture and decor. Seriously. I love it more than shopping for shoes, and you guys know how I love shoes! Luckily, my wifey humors me and when I yell "I NEED A NEW HOUSE!" she obliges and builds something perfect for all my furniture. The newest house from Funky Junk, Ariel, is utterly perfect for the summer!

Style - Ariel

An awesome beach house up on stilts, the Ariel home is open and inviting, with two large rooms, a great loft, and a charming sunroom. Trust me, I have spent many evenings in the sunroom watching the sunset! I do, of course, have a million pics for you all. Remember, these are just "serving suggestions" as to what you can do with the rooms. I always urge you to put your own style in your living space!

The Ariel home comes in at 145 prims, or 161 with the added decor of a lifesaver ring, boat oars, rusted nautical star, and a lantern full of pretty shells. My house is in the Mist color, and it also comes in Kelp, a soft green.

You need it, you want it, you love it. Go to Funky Junk and buy it!

BoHo, baby!

This month's Spruce Up Your Space theme is So BoHo! I got utterly giddy when I heard the theme because that's a style I like a whole lot! And I got even more excited when I found out Funky Junk was going to be in it. Look at this CUTE little house Ulaa made for the event!

Style - Boho, baby!

Isn't it just adorable? Well, if you think this is good - let's take a look inside!!

The living room is large and spacious with a fun wallpaper! Lots of room to pack in your favorite stuff. The fireplace facade with the art and stuff on top is also included in your BoHo Cottage, but is of course removable if you need to save on prims. If you look at the two Fondant Poufs in the middle of the room, those are from LISP Bazaar, on sale for SUYS this weekend as well.

Style - Boho, baby! - Living room

I set up this room as a kitchen/dining area. The large windows have a really cool soft colored texture that tie in with the wallpapers in the house, and with the stained glass in the house.

Style - Boho, baby! - Kitchen

And of course, what's a house without a bedroom? I wasn't quite sure about this wallpaper when I first saw it, but I gotta say, it totally grew on me. It's just so different and so ... boho! The Mia Palette Bed that I'm laying on is from Mudhoney and is also for SUYS this weekend. It's so sweet, and fits into this house SO well.

Style - Boho, baby! - Bedroom

The Funky Junk BoHo Cottage comes with 2 sets of texture change drapes, 3 pieces of wall art, the fireplace mantle, and a scripted porch light. It is 99 prims rezzed by itself, 172 with all the extra goodies. Everything is copy/mod, no transfer.

Spruce Up Your Space for this weekend is only a few more hours, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to pick up these items at regular price after the weekend is over if you miss it. At any price, it's something you've got to have!

I love bluebonnets in the spring

So like I said in my last post [god, I am slow lately!], Funky Junk came out with a house that is very near and dear to me. Why? Well, for one, it's based off an idea I showed to Funky Junk creator Ulaa Coronet, and she totally put her own spin on it and made it ten times better than I imagined. And two, she named it after my sim - Bluebonnet!

Style - Bluebonnet House

Gorgeous, right? It features a wide porch [necessary because I MUST have a place to drink my sweet tea!], two balconies, and a good sized patio. Inside, it has JUST the right amount of rooms - living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There's also a little area that you could do pretty much anything with.

Check out the pics of the inside!
[You might want to go to each pic's Flickr page to view them bigger.]

The living room/front entry way.

Style - Bluebonnet living room

Spacious kitchen.

Upstairs area - I turned it into a reading nook!

Style - Bluebonnet upstairs/reading area

Bathroom. [Could easily be a small bedroom if you don't get down with bathrooms in SL.]

Style - Bluebonnet Bathroom

Bright and cheery bedroom! My favorite room in the house!

Style - Bluebonnet bedroom

The Bluebonnet house is 267 prims and is a 17x29 footprint. It is copy/mod, so you can mod away to your heart's content to make it fit your style better. But of course, this is exactly MY style, so I didn't have to do anything to it except fill it with furniture. :) Head over to Funky Junk and rez a demo! You will just fall in love with it!

There's no way I could possibly name all the furniture/accessories I've used in this house, but here are a few of the stores where you can shop for great home/garden things!

Livin' La Vida Pink!

Are you as much as a prefab addict as I am? I simply cannot resist when I see a little house or skybox that I like! When Funky Junk owner Ulaa Coronet decided to bring out one of her best selling homes in pink for Valentine's Day, and then slapped a $50L tag on it... well, you can imagine how excited I was!

Style - Livin' La Vida Pink - front

Style - Livin' La Vida Pink - inside

Eeee! It's so cute! This is a recolor of her Quaint home, so it's named My Quaint Valentine. I could just squeal over the cuteness, but you probably want details, am I right? This house has a 6 by 16 footprint and is 72 prims. Ulaa is awesome [and I don't say that just because she's my partner!] and she's included some matching accessories - table, chairs, texture change rug, fireplace facade with the flower basket, and a window flower box. Altogether, it comes out to just 132 prims! And of course you can not use the accessories, if you don't want to. The house is copy only, no mod and no transfer. For only $50L, it is a heck of a deal!

Go to Funky Junk now!! This deal is only available through Valentine's Day. I'll be showing you another of the new homes from Funky Junk that is near and dear to my heart later this week, so keep an eye out!

I can't name all the furniture that I put into this house, aside from the accessories that are included, but here are some of the stores where you can go shop for some of what is shown:

Bacchitecture!

So by now you've probably heard of the House & Garden Hunt that's going on. But you might be asking yourself "Hey! Where am I going to put all my new furniture?" I have a suggestion!

Bacchitecture is one of the newest prefab shops to hit the grid, and oh! The houses are just lovely! Owner Bacchus Ireto was kind enough to drop some houses on me [um, not Wicked Witch style!] and I had so much fun rezzing houses to play in! Bacchus is the former curator of the Frank Lloyd Wright Virtual Museum, and draws his inspiration from American vernacular architecture, as well as the buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, Mies van der Rohe, and Robert A. M. Stern.

Let's take a look at two of my favorites, the Llewellyn and the Lutsen!

Review - Bacchitecture - Llewellyn

Review - Bacchitecture - Lutsen

I am a huge fan of very tasteful, classic homes. I don't usually get into the whole modern thing, and so these two prefabs worked really well for me! They are built beautifully, and the insides are just as pretty, without being overwhelming at all. That is really awesome because then you can decorate to your own taste without feeling like the house is forcing you into something. Yes, houses force!

There are several houses to choose from at Bacchitecture, so head on over and rez some out to look in. I bet you'll find one that you just can't live without!

Here fishie, fishie, fishie...

I love the Pocket Gardens by Stormy Aluveaux and Carter Denja. Anytime I need an instant garden [because I'm horrible at landscaping!], I pull mine out and boom! Insta-pretty! I was super happy to see the new Castalia Basin with Koi, because who doesn't need some cute fish in their life??

Review - Pocket Gardens - Castalia Basin with Koi, small

Review - Pocket Gardens - Castalia Basin with Koi, large

Review - Pocket Gardens - Castalia Basin with Koi, both

The basins go really well with the Castalia prefab gardens. Both basins come with color change scripts for the basin itself, and for the roses attached. The fish are so cute and swim in circles. There are even sits on each basin [as shown in the top picture] and one of the best parts? Low prim! The small basin is 7 prims and the large is 10 prims. These are GREAT if you're in one of the new Linden homes!

These are very affordable, too! The small basin is $125L and the large is $175L. Or get a little discount and get both for $250L! They are copyable, so you can put fish out everywhere!

Go pick up your new koi at Pocket Gardens today!

Hey, who broke my window?

It's kind of a running joke that I have a skybox addiction. Well, skyboxes, houses, any kind of prefab, really. Luckily for me, I know some pretty good builders and once in a while they'll drop prefabs that they've built on me, just to get my opinion. [Um, drop them in my inventory, I should say. Not drop them ON me. I'm not the Wicked Witch of the East or anything. I don't even live in the east.]

Today my friend Magen Jigsaw of EmJay surprised me with a new skybox! Magen usually does clothing, but she's branching out into prefabs, and with this first build, I can say that I'm happy she is! Check out some pictures of her new Shabby Chic skybox.

Review - EmJay - Skybox, outside

Review - EmJay - Skybox, inside

Review - EmJay - Skybox, window

I'm not usually a huge fan of the distressed texture look, but I'm really loving this. It's wide, open, and there are lots of ways you can decorate up this box! My favorite thing, and this is something that I LOVE when prefab creators do, is that you could use this skybox down on the ground as well. It makes it more than just a skybox, it makes it a home.

The Shabby Chic is 75 prim and $300L. If you're a prefab addict like me, you need to head over to EmJay and pick this up!

Winter in my pocket!

Do you remember a few months ago, I blogged about the Pocket Gardens by Stormy Aluveaux and Carter Denja? Well, just in time for winter, they've come out with new wintery Persephone Pocket Gardens!!

These are just so cute! The pictures truly don't do them justice. The gardens are all linked together, so even for the worst landscaper on the grid [*cough* like me.], it's super easy to put together a fabulous area. The base is texture change to fit a variety of snow textures that you find in SL, but I didn't see an invisible texture like in the Thalia garden. You are also able to change the texture of the tree! If you get one with a lamp, the lamp changes colors and lights too, which is pretty much an awesome effect! I didn't change it for this photo just so you can see what it looks like as-is. You are also able to sit on the rocks or log, and turn the little bird's song on or off.

The gardens range in sizes from 4x4 to 4x6 and are very prim budget friendly from 16 to 21 prims. They are copy, but not modifiable. If you do much landscaping in SL, you know that it's often expensive, so these are fairly budget friendly as well, ranging in price from $175L to $275L. If you fatpack the Persephone garden in December, it's 50% off, making it just $350L. That is a STEAL, you guys!

Go check out the demo of the Pocket Garden. I love mine, and I know you guys will love them too!

Baby, it's cold outside...and inside!

On my island, we're all starting to get excited because snow is "predicted" in our weather forecast later this month. To get ready for it, my adorable and super talented friend Aisuru Rieko of Beloved Custom Designs decided to make an Ice Castle for her parcel. And luckily for you guys, she's selling it!

If you head over to her store and click the teleport board to go up to where she has her prefabs rezzed, you can wander around this deliciously icy creation. Although I'll get to see the castle on the island when the snow falls, I had to go check it out now!

These pictures do not - DO NOT - do the castle justice. I strongly urge you guys to go check it out for yourself. If you do any kind of winter landscaping, you owe it to yourself to get this castle!

While you're at BCD, check out all of Aisuru's other creations. She makes all kinds of whimsical landscaping items, as well as some of the most gorgeous eyes in Second Life!

What's in your pocket?

You might have noticed in my last post, I was standing in the middle of some very pretty landscaping. I wish I could take credit for making it all work, but nope. What I was standing in is a Pocket Garden by Carter Denja and Stormy Aluveaux.

The Pocket Garden is absolutely amazing! Especially for someone like me who isn't all that great at landscaping. Just rez out the size of your choice, and poof! Insta-garden! These are super awesome too because they're scripted to change the color of the flowers [slightly. It won't give you crazy colors.] and change the "ground" covering. You have options of having a soil ground, grass, and others. Even an invisible one so your own terrain can show.

They come in 3 different sizes, so there is a size for everyone. :)

5x5, 30 prims. $275L.

5x10, 44 prims. $375L.

10x10, 58 prims. $475L.

All of the sizes come with a bench with a couples pose, and the 5x10 and 10x10 come with a single ground sit. There is also an "environmental" background sound that changes with the time of day, a bird that chirps, and you can change the color of the lamp & light. It's really just a great piece of work! If you regularly buy landscaping items in SL, you can also see what a great bargain you're getting, especially if you purchase the fatpack of all 3 sizes for $800L. There are also bases and hedges included, which are not shown in these pictures.

The Pocket Gardens are not modifiable or transferable, but you can copy them. I would love to have a mod/copy version option in the future, just to be able to move a few things around, but honestly, these are just perfect as-is.

Go get your own Pocket Garden now! :)

Lucky Quickie - Wall Clocks!

If you're like me and you're always looking for something cute to decorate your home, you need to join the Belle Belle group and go stalk the lucky boards for these Wall Clocks!!

So so cute! They remind me of clocks that used to hang in my grandma's kitchen when I was younger. They actually keep time and are prim budget friendly at just 6 prims each. :)

Now get out of my kitchen and go get lucky at Belle Belle!

Midnight Mania On Conatus!

Two of my bestest best friends have stores on the same sim [next to the WTFug HQ too!] and they now have Midnight Mania boards!

My friend Natasha Burke has recently started her own shapes store, NataShapes! Her shapes are lovely and very "real girl." Currenly in her Midnight Mania board, she's offering her shape Sienna.

Be sure to look at Natasha's other shapes while you're at the store. All her shapes are copy/modify, and VERY decently priced at just $100L.

If you're into prefabs [and really, who isn't?], then you absolutely MUST go slap the Midnight Mania board at Ingmann Design! Currently in the MM board is a cute rustic home named Grandma's House.

This little house is a real prim saver at only 29 prims! It's built to fit on a 512sqm piece of land and is perfect if you want to build a little farm home for yourself. Oh hey, chicken farmers, you can use it for your home and have lots of room available for all your chickens! :) Here are a couple of other views of the house since designer Noelyci Ingmann was nice enough to rez one out for me so I could look at it. You all know how picky I am about my houses. But I knew this would be cute...after all, he DID design my own home. ;)

If you don't get in on the MM board, Grandma's House is a steal at $250L. Check out all the other awesome prefabs while you're out there. There are also a lot of eyes, AND a new lucky chair with eyes.

Lots to see on Conatus, and I'll be out there DJing this Tuesday evening, so it's the place to be!

Wine & Roses Pretties!

I've said time and time again that I feel extremely blessed to be friends with some extraordinarily talented people in SL, and today is just another one of those days. :) My friend Nika Dreamscape is an exceptionally talented artist [I never can resist buying a few of her works when I attend her shows!] who opened up a store in the past few months called Wine & Roses. She sells her artwork, mostly on vases and candles, but she's also created now a line of "windows" with her art behind them!

These are SO SO cute, and so perfect if you're living in a skybox without windows, or really for any room of your house. Check them out!

Review - Wine & Roses - Window 1

At only 3 prims each, you'll agree that they're a very adorable addition to any home! The windows are only $150L each, which makes them not only adorable, but affordable as well. There are several others at her shop, so you'll want to check them all out!
