My Big Fat Gypsy Blog

I've always been a little enchanted by gypsies. Of course, when I think of gypsies, I think of Esmerelda in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I absolutely love My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, but well...they're not exactly Esmerelda. Although I guess those girls do dress like some SL people! But I got to get my Disneyesque gypsy on with this new dress from Wishbox!

Style - My Big Fat Gypsy Blog

Wanderlust is an awesome gypsy style costume! You have three options with the top. The cropped version I'm wearing here, then a longer version that comes with both long and short sleeves. It also comes with a bandana for your hair. I don't wear a lot of flexi things any more, but you better believe I was having a blast dancing around in this outfit and watching my skirt swirl!

Go to Wishbox now and get your own dress to dance in!

Guarded By An Angel

One of my favorite times of the year is about to start! Fashion For Life starts on the 10th, and that marks the annual start of the official ‘Relay for Life’ events that take place inworld each year. I love it because you can always pick up some great things for charity, like this Adorabelle angel outfit from Angelwing!

Style - Guarded By An Angel

This outfit is really something! 20 pieces and lots of great prim work! The staff even has a pose in it. It's not something I'd wear every day, obviously, but it is certainly impressive if you need something for photos or even if you're RPing an angel. Loves it!

Fashion For Life starts on March 10th and is 10 sims full of great designers all working together to support the American Cancer Society.

A Little Different

So earlier tonight, the awesome posemaker Adorkable Peapod offered a challenge to the bloggers. Blog something that is out of your norm! Like if you always blog high editorial fashion, blog yourself in jeans and a tshirt. Or if you do lovely girly looks, go crazy sci-fi or grungy. This sounded like fun to me! But what in the world would I do?? So I ran to the one place I knew would have some fantastic costumes - BARE ROSE!! I could not stop looking at everything because I haven't been there in so long. I just love what I picked out!!

Style - A Little Different

This is the Brass Armor Lady. I am glad I lift weights because this is some heavy armor!! But it's SO COOL. I guess this would be considered steampunk maybe? I'm so bad at knowing all the different things. But I've got goggles and there are grenades on the back of my belt with little propellors. I think they're grenades. I'm actually not sure! EVERYTHING is included in this outfit, even the boots, and it's less than $200L. Oh Bare Rose, how much I love you!

Thank you, Adorkable, for pushing us into something a little different! This was SO MUCH FUN for me! I want more costumes now! I hope all of you choose to take on this challenge!

Sweet Eden

I simply love Evangeline Miles. I do. I make no secret of it. As sweet as she is talented, she's been one of my favorite designers for years and probably one of the few people in Second Life that could get me to think, "I could totally rock these wings with jeans." Her latest creation from Evie's Closet, Eden, makes me so happy, I could almost consider becoming a faerie full time.

Style - Sweet Eden

Isn't this the sweetest little outfit?? Eden is a great petal inspired babydoll dress that comes with cute stockings that lace up on the tops, pretty flats that I know will find their way into my regular wardrobe, some lovely wings, and a little stemmed hat. I'm wearing it in Peony, a rich hot pink, and there are other colors to choose from as well.

If you see me fluttering around in this outfit for the next week, blame Evie. It's totally her fault. ♥

Shake your body like a belly dancer!

A few years ago, I used to take belly dance classes. It was something I deeply enjoyed and I would suggest that any woman, of any size, do belly dance for at least a month. Nothing will make you feel better and more at home in your body. I am hoping to begin classes again within the next couple of months!

That being said, when Angelwing put out their new Coin Silks, I immediately got into the belly dance mood! They are simply amazing! Look look look!

Review - Angelwing - Coin Silks

Most of the "coins" you see in Second Life are just pictures of coins on alpha textures. Not these! Oh no, honey. You will be rockin' out with about 1400 prims when you wear this outfit! Earrings, anklets, bracelets, belts...all prim, and all wonderful. The outfit also comes with harem pants, if you choose not wear the skirt. If you wear the pants, you better wax, because they are low low low in the front. There is a "higher" option as well, which is what I wear when I wear the pants. The skirt also looks really good with the pants, if you are on the more modest side, or just want a different option.

The Coin Silks are shown here in Aqua, and come in other colors as well. I have a feeling I'll be getting a lot of use out of just the jewelry because it's pretty awesome. Go pick yours up at Angelwing!

Pretty Dirndls!

Oktoberfest starts on September 18th, and just in time, Bublee Bing has released new Dirndls!

Review - Bublee Bing - Dirndl Sale

These dirndls are just too cute! If you do any kind of roleplaying in SL, or you just enjoy dressing up in costumes, you kind of need these! They come in all kinds of colors and there is an option for the married and unmarried apron. Last year I wore the unmarried one, but I'm partnered this year, so I switched!

There is a 50% off sale on all of last year's dirndls, which are just as awesome as the new ones, so if you want to play in SL but don't want to spend a huge amount [costumes can get kind of pricy], then be sure to hit up the sale at Bublee Bing!

Alicia In D!valand

This may be the lamest title I've ever thought of. /sigh

Sometimes when I'm browsing XStreet, I'll see something and think, "Oh! That is pretty! But where would I ever wear it?" The Wonderland dress by Salt was one of those things. So pretty, but not exactly my normal style, so I figured I'd never wear it.

Last night I was browsing over at D!va hair when I decided to take a walk around the sim. Gorgeous!! Simply gorgeous! Then the thought popped into my head. The Wonderland dress would look great here! After all, can you really explore a sim without being properly dressed? I don't think so!

Review - Salt, D!va - Alicia in D!valand

A recreation of the dress from the "Alice" movie, this dress is just so elegantly pretty. Creator Tammany Goodliffe hand drew the bodice, lace and skirt embroidery based off of photos. Look at the hem - just adorable! The Wonderland dress also includes striped handwarmers [not shown] and vintage Victorian style boots, which you cannot see because of the angle of the photo. If you buy this dress, and really you should, I suggest buying it from the XStreet page because it is $100L cheaper! But do check out the other goodies at Salt because there's lots of pretties!

Oh, and like I said, I was on the sim where D!va is when I took this picture, so of course I had to buy this cute Natsumi hair. The only thing I was not really fond of at D!va is that the hairs are no modify, and come with the resizer script. I much prefer being able to grab a prim and drag or stretch it to where I need it. But hey, if you buy hair that covers your ears, it's not always a problem!

I'm off to go find a white rabbit to chase and who knows, maybe I can find a drink to shrink me. Oh, wouldn't that be nice??

I'll put a spell on you...

Just yesterday I was thinking to myself, "Self, you just don't wear as many costumes as you used to a couple of years ago." Then here comes Deviance designer Surreal LeShelle with simply the most marvelous outfit - The Enchantress!

Review - Deviance - Enchantress

Review - Deviance - Enchantress, back

The Enchantress is so gorgeous, as you would expect from Deviance. And there are SO many options to this lovely outfit, I simply couldn't photograph them all. The skirt and collar have 4 different options each and you know how much I love options with my clothing. I'm wearing the skirt with both the skulls and beads, and in the first photo I'm wearing the cape with the collar and long cape, and as you can see in the second photo, I'm wearing the shorter cape with no collar. And the included staff is just awesome. I feel like I want to cast a spell on everyone around me! The shape I'm wearing is included in the package, too! Normally I don't wear other shapes, preferring to fit outfits to my shape, but I really liked this one. It's taller and bigger than my normal shape, but didn't make me feel like a glamazon, which is always a good thing.

I'm wearing the Enchantress in Midnight Blue in my pictures, but there are 15 beautiful colors available. A single outfit is $400L, a minipack of 3 colors is $800L, and you can multipack all 15 colors for $1800L. I think you'll agree with me that getting the big pack is truly the way to go with this, especially if you get a lot of use out of this type of outfit!

If you are a Deviance subscriber, you can get a special group gift - the Enchantress in teal! Why are you still reading? Go shopping!

Holiday Hot Stuff!

I had the pleasure of meeting Nymphetamine designer Paeoti Pomeray a few nights ago at a party, and what a sweetheart! It always makes me happy when I get to meet people whose talents I admire, and then I learn they're nice people, too!

For the holidays, Paeoti has created some sexy little designs that I just know would look adorable under any Christmas tree.

The Doll Baby set is just this flirty, frilly little lingerie set that made me bounce around my bedroom.

The lace work on this set is just so delicate! Often, I find that lace in SL tends to run a little bit too thick for my personal taste. But this lace is very very pretty! There is also a nice little bunch of lace on the back of the panties, much like what is on the front. The Doll Baby is $250L, and worth every bit of it.

If that covers you up too much, hey, why not try these Prissy Poinsetta pasties?

Believe me, I never expected to be wearing so little in my blog! Ever! But these little sculpted flowers are sure to put a twinkle in Santa's eye if he caught you waiting by the tree in them! For added fun, they can be turned on to make jingle bell sounds. That is optional, and you can turn them off for those of you who don't care for noises in SL. AND? These can be taken off by your partner! You'd probably get a BIG gift after that! The Prissy Poinsettas are $150L.

Now for my favorite of the bunch - Flirty Fannie!

Isn't it delish? The skirt is made of "pearls" and there is a matching bracelet. And look at that cute little hat!! I just wanted to strut around all day in it, but of course it's better in the bedroom. Or in this roomful of diamonds! This is a collaboration piece from House of Hucci and Glitterati. I'm going to have to get this myself, because I was borrowing Sophia's. :) But I thought it was perfect for this outfit - diamonds and pearls!

Flirty Fannie is on sale right now for the special holiday price of $250L. Ladies! Run and get this!!

That's all for my Nymphetamine love this time around! Go shop!

Delicious Dirndls!

Bublee Bing has come out with something just in time for Oktoberfest! Bublee, who hails from Germany, has created just some wonderful dirndls that even an American like me, who has no real experience with dirndls at all, can completely appreciate!

Gorgeous, are they not? Her texture work is truly beautiful! These come with 2 options for the bodice to wear with a prim chain or with the chain printed on the bodice, the lovely blouses, the skirts, and 2 options for the aprons. Did you know there is a certain side that you tie your apron on if you are unmarried? I didn't! I am, obviously, wearing the unmarried ones. :)

What really got me was that she even created a "maidservant" dirndl! It's all splotched and stained and reminds me of Cinderella before the ball. If you do medieval style roleplay and you're a maid, get this outfit.

These beautiful dirndls are meticulously detailed, right down to the lace edging on the sleeves. And there are options for short or long sleeves on the regular dirndls, and a more off the shoulder blouse option for the Maidservant one.

There is also jewelry included in the dirndls, but I chose not to wear it for these photos because I felt it detracted from the beauty of the texture work.

You have a choice of SEVERAL different colors of dirndls, and you can choose either the long or short versions. This kind of costume doesn't come cheap though - you're looking at least $700L and higher. But oh...for this kind of texturing, it is well worth it.

Oktoberfest begins this weekend, so get a dirndl and party it up, even if you're not German. :)

Would you like a beer?

As most of my close friends know, I'm a pretty big fan of The Girls Next Door. Yes, that show about Hef and his blondies. Holly, Kendra, Bridget - for some reason I really like them. :) In an episode of GND, they were out in Germany and Bridget wore a cute little German beer girl outfit. I always wanted to find something similar in SL, so imagine how delighted I was when Reasonable Desires [which is fast becoming one of my favorite costume shops!] came out with this adorable little number: The Alpine Beer Girl!

This charming little outfit comes with a variety of ways to wear it, and you know how I do love options. You can wear it with the pretty blue skirt, the lederhosen shorts that cover your butt or the ones that don't cover quite as much, and the corset with or without the suspenders. I loved it with the suspender part because of the butterfly detail. Plus it comes with a really great shirt that "ties" in the back and has puffy sleeves, 2 beer steins [for holding or for holding & drinking], and one other little surprise that I'm not going to tell you about. You're just going to have to get the outfit to see!

The Alpine Beer Girl is extremely reasonably priced at just $175L. Run and get yours today! Prost!

Pin Up Pretty!

I absolutely love costumes. Especially cute costumes that make me look amazing! So when I was asked what I'd like to review from Reasonable Desires, I bypassed the pretty lingerie and went directly to the Cigarette Girl costume.

Isn't it delish? Straight out of the 40s, you can't help but feel like a Vargas pin-up girl in this cute little number!

The outfit comes with the little dress, the optional panty bottom, stockings, pillbox hat, chest bow [which didn't fit me all that well, so I'm only wearing it once in the above picture], gloves, and 2 trays. Personally, I'm not huge on smoking, so I'd probably wear the "Presents" tray more than the cigarette tray, but both are so cute! You also can modify the tray to put in something like a gift or a landmark or notecard so that people can click on the tray to get it. How cute is that? For the low low price of $175L, this kicky little costume would be a great addition to your inventory.

Reasonable Desires has a great selection of costumes and lingerie, so it's most definitely worth a look!
